UnHurried: Women’s Weekend Retreat

UnHurried: Women’s* Weekend Retreat with Suki and Gloria

When we step out of the ordinary time and space of our lives, there’s a beautiful opportunity to attune to our own selves, our needs, and our delight.

You are invited to join us in retreat to settle into your own sweet self, enjoy the simple routines of sunrise and sleep, movement and rest, conversation and quiet, connection with your own sweet self and others; and feel the support that you need.

*We welcome gender diverse participants.

Each day will follow simple routines that create a sacred structure for your time with us. From rising to greet the day to surrendering to deep rest in the evening, our days will be spacious and unhurried. Nourish body, emotions, mind, and spirit as you join in both organized offerings (such as yoga nidra, meditation, creative expression, group time, ritual, and celebration) and unstructured time for your own silence, star gazing, play, rest, and connection with each other. We welcome you to bring your whole self and to treat your own needs with the loving responsiveness that they deserve.

Suki Kermes (she/her/they)

Hello beauties! My name is Suki Kermes. I am a certified yoga and meditation teacher with over fifteen years of experience. Through my journey with yoga, I have developed a special reverence for gathering women, sharing my love of yoga nidra, and weaving in the wisdom of our pelvises.

My nurturing therapeutic approach supports others to s l o w down, take up space and be guided home to their inner wisdom. I’ve come to find that deep rest practices, being present in nature, somatic movement and self-inquiry all aid in honing one’s intuition to feel supported and nourished.

I’m a woman, mama, friend and forever student who honors the Divine Feminine.

Yoga has been a lifeline for me through life’s many stages, and it’s a joy to share what I’ve learned with others. This season of life keeps showing me she’s about deep healing and finding strength - in several forms - to fortify my way.

Gloria Shephard (she/her)

Hi, I’m Gloria. I’ve spent my life walking between worlds. One of my feet is always firmly planted in the earthy realm of practical life, common sense, and the natural world. The other is stepping out of the known world and into the abyss–the unexpected, invisible, experimental chaos of a world that isn’t fully born yet. I love both worlds and experience them as one integrated world that we can’t completely understand yet.

Experiential education, nature healing, mindfulness, emotional transformation, shadow work, astrology & other ways of knowing and understanding ourselves are some of the disciplines I’ve immersed myself in over the past 40+ years. Formal training, deep mentor relationships, books, talks, and retreats has given me a path. Years of personal exploration, direct experience, trial and error, and actually walking that path has helped me to (imperfectly) live the teachings and offer them to you.

Wellness with Nature

Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.

Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.

History

Warrior Path

Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.

The Underground Railroad

Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
