A Spring Rising With Yoga Barn
Spring doesn’t just arrive; it awakens. It’s in the dawn chorus of birds and the song of moving water. The thaw is here. The intentions you planted in the dark soil of winter are are ready to find the light.
This June, we say yes to the vibrance. Join us at River Mountain to honor the seasonal transition from stillness to growth. Here, we remember that we are meant to flourish. From the hum of the forest to fireside connection, we’ll bask in the sun’s warmth and harmonize our circadian rhythm with its rise and set.
Here’s What Awaits You
THE SETTING
River Mountain in June is the earth laughing in flowers. The creek is flowing. The canopy is a vibrant spectrum of green. Here, the greenhouse is a sanctuary of light and the air smells of wild growth. This is the medicine of spring—the rich soil your next season needs to bloom.
THE RHYTHM
Mornings: Awakening Vinyasa and mindful hikes in the healing forest.
Afternoons: Guided meditation, breathwork, and sound healing. Refreshing pond plunges, cedar hot tub soaks, and expressive watercolor workshops to awaken the creative self.
Evenings: The ancient practice of Council and fireside connection under a canopy of stars.
Throughout: Organic seasonal meals, community, and the deep restoration of nature immersion and digital detox.
The INVITATION
The June sun is a catalyst, illuminating the path forward. We gather to ask: What is ready to bloom now that the light has returned?
This is your invitation to thaw out. Trust that the work you did in the winter stillness was worth it. Your roots are now deep enough to support your growth.
Thaw out. Break through. Come alive.

Meet Your Hosts
Nicole Neiman
Nicole has a passion for fitness, the outdoors, and finding stillness in motion. When she's not teaching at Yoga Barn, you'll find her exploring the world or hiking with her dog Zola—always seeking connection with people and place.
When Nicole first connected to her breath on the mat, she discovered something unexpected: the stillness she found there followed her everywhere else. For her, yoga isn't just about the technique of each pose, it's about experiencing the deeper spirit within every movement.
Nicole believes yoga is for everyone, and she invites you to show up exactly as you are. She creates space for her students to explore deeper within themselves, find gratitude, and build self-love through the power of practice. Her energizing morning flows at River Mountain will wake you up from the inside out.
Carleen Birnes
I'm a mindful outdoor guide, yoga teacher, and professor of nervous system regulation. I believe movement, nature, and real human connection are how we find our way back to ourselves. My vinyasa classes sync breath with motion, letting you drop into meditation while you're moving—your body becomes the prayer, the practice, the path home.
When we step outside and move together with the rhythms of the natural world, our nervous systems recalibrate through entrainment and coregulation. There's something profound that happens when we're truly present with each other—our bodies naturally sync, our breath steadies, something opens. We feel more alive, more held, more like ourselves.
My work weaves the science of regulation with the ancient wisdom of moving in nature and community—an invitation to remember what it feels like to be fully here.

Wellness with Nature
Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.
Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.
History
Warrior Path
Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.
The Underground Railroad
Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
