RE-Treat: The Gang Goes Back! Reset, Reconnect & Rebalance

We’re going back to River Mountain, but this time to enjoy some leaf peeping! Come enjoy the beautiful colors of Autumn while slowing down and taking some time for yourself with Tula Yoga + Wellness for an all inclusive 3-night yoga retreat at River Mountain. Recharge your batteries and reconnect with your body, mind, and nature. Enjoy daily yoga and meditation practices, group meals, community bonfires, plenty of free time to explore the great outdoors, and much more!

Surrounded by the peaceful mountains, enjoy healthy home cooked meals, evening happy hours to connect with one another, soul warming campfires, and of course s’mores!

Each day we will offer daily yoga classes, meditation and various add-on activities to allow you to connect with yourself, each other and nature. Choose your own schedule and participate in everything or simply choose one or two activities and enjoy the slow pace of the day with a book in the hammock garden.

& Past Retreats

Carly Markowitz
co-owner Tula Yoga + Wellness

Carly has been practicing yoga since 2004 and has benefited greatly from the healing and transformative powers of practice. Carly teaches an alignment based vinyasa practice, focused on the intelligent placement of the body and breath. She finds strength and inspiration in her daily practice and looks to share that with her students. In Carly’s class you can expect to be challenged and stimulated; physically, mentally and spiritually.

Jenn Curren
co-owner Tula Yoga + Wellness

Jenn started to develop her personal yoga practice in 2009 while living in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She first found yoga to be a tool to help find balance in the life of an educator. Combining her passion for working with people and yoga, Jenn found herself studying to get her MSW and yoga teaching certification. Jenn believes strongly in the sense of community both in and outside of her yoga classes. In Jenn's class you can expect a focus on safe alignment and introspective reflection on doing what is best for your body, mind and spirit in any given class.

Wellness with Nature

Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.

Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.

History

Warrior Path

Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.

The Underground Railroad

Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
