The Renewed Nurse Retreat

The Renewed Nurse Retreat

If you're ready to exhale, unwind, let down and simply BE- this retreat is for you. Open to all those that work in healthcare these two days allow you to soak up nature and let your pulse slow down.

With over 150 acres to hike, lay in a hammock, journal, pick up that good book you’ve been wanting to read, turn your face to the sun, sip a glass of wine, and watch the river slip by - this is YOUR time.

Create the agenda your soul needs for this time away to truly reset and restore, renew and refill. You can do as much or as little as you'd like with the agenda options provided.

Whether you want to join us for a group therapy session with our licensed trauma therapist, a yoga session along the river, explore your creative side with a group sip and paint, indulge in the cedar soak tubs, learn in the meadow on a honey + hive tour, gather together on a group hike, or simply step away and catch your breath alongside God in nature in solitude on your own - maybe a little in between….we truly want you to be in charge of your intentional time spent these few days away, nestled in the peace and quiet of God’s beautiful creation.

You give so much of yourself within your vocation day in and day out, we truly long for these two days to be meant for well supported rest and relaxation for you, friend.

Meet Your Hosts

All our love, Nurse Meg & Nurse Em
MegFoltz

Meg

With a love of travel, connection, coffee, and conversation Meg leads a very diverse life.

Whether co-hosting a podcast episode with Em, managing her coffee truck- Character Coffee, or getting patients ready for surgery no two days are alike for Meg.

She believes strongly in a blurring of the sacred and secular and sees medicine, a good cuppa, and a smile as equally important ministries.

From a career start in critical care medicine she shortly thereafter found herself on Haitian soil giving her a broader worldview and perspective on basic healthcare rights and needs.

Seventeen countries later she’s been able to scratch the surface on being a better human.

In her down time Meg enjoys great food, the outdoors, a good book, and a fluffy friend.

She is loved by her husband, 2 boys, 3 horses, 1 dog, and a bunny ☺️. Jesus is the heartbeat of her life and she strongly believes that “the Light always wins”.

NurseEm

Em

Em is always learning. Learning to fall more deeply in love with surrendering every piece of herself to Christ, daily. The pieces she cherishes so deeply, such as time spent with her hubs, daughter, and three, 4-legged fur kids. Her time in which she enjoys living and learning amidst locals internationally. The effort put into the pieces of her where she loves lifting weights, working out, playing sports, & snowboarding when time allows. Reading a good book in the sun. And all the deep conversations on theology.

Em transitioned from working as a nursing assistant to a nurse in 2017. As an RN she moved from the surgical progressive care unit to the world of trauma/surgical ICU in 2019 while spending some time in rehab/skilled nursing/dementia care as PRN. In 2021 she started travel nursing.

If we replace judgement for curiosity she believes we can all live a little more like Jesus. Happy you’re here.

Wellness with Nature

Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.

Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.

History

Warrior Path

Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.

The Underground Railroad

Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
