Nourish & Evolve:
A Retreat for Yoga Teachers

Nourish & Evolve: A Retreat for Yoga Teachers

Teaching yoga is a gift — but it’s easy to pour so much into others that your own well runs dry. Nourish & Evolve is a retreat designed for yoga teachers to refill their cup, reconnect with the practice that first inspired them, and evolve through shared experience and connection.

Over four days in the quiet beauty of the mountains, we’ll move, breathe, and reflect together. Expect mornings of movement and meditation, afternoons of rest and renewal, and evenings by the fire for laughter, s’mores, and deep connecting conversation. Between it all, you’ll have time to hike, journal, nap, or simply be.

This retreat isn’t about learning new choreography or perfecting your cues — it’s about remembering why you teach, and who you are beneath the role of teacher. Through practice, dialogue, and shared stories, we’ll explore how to balance teaching and tending to our own growth, filling both the heart and the teacher’s toolbox.

Come to rest. Come to listen. Come to evolve. Leave replenished — grounded in your purpose, inspired in your practice, and ready to return to your community renewed.

Meet Your Hosts

Heather

Heather Rice, E-RYT 200

Heather came to yoga in 2019 looking for balance and left forever changed by the practice’s ability to heal and transform from the inside out. As both a teacher and lifelong student, she believes yoga is a space to return to ourselves—to listen, soften, and grow through curiosity and compassion.

Her teaching emphasizes accessibility and authenticity, reminding us that yoga isn’t about the shape of a pose but the relationship we build with ourselves through it. In her classes, everybody is invited to explore movement in a way that feels supportive and real.

Currently studying under Diane Bondy in a 300-hour program, Heather continues to evolve her approach to teaching with a deep commitment to inclusivity and heart-centered practice. She’s passionate about helping teachers reconnect with their own practice so they can continue to guide others from a place of clarity, integrity, and joy.

Jenn

Jenn Hickman, RYT 200

Jenn’s yoga journey began nearly a decade ago with a simple desire to stretch — and unfolded into a deep love for the mind-body-spirit connection. Her teaching blends movement, breath, and mindfulness in ways that feel playful, inclusive, and deeply human.

Drawing from traditional yoga wisdom, somatics, and trauma-informed care, Jenn creates a warm, welcoming space where students can explore, release, and reconnect.

Off the mat, Jenn is a K–2 Special Education teacher who brings mindfulness into the classroom, a nature lover, and a proud mom, spouse, and fur baby wrangler. She can’t wait to share the magic of yoga with you — one breath, one asana, one moment at a time.

Wellness with Nature

Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.

Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.

History

Warrior Path

Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.

The Underground Railroad

Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
