Take What You Need Retreat

Take What You Need Retreat

The primary focus of this retreat is YOU and what YOU need. Seeking out community? We’ve got that. Yearning for some time alone? Look no further. Craving yoga? That will definitely be covered! During this retreat, you will have the opportunity to spend time with the most important person…YOU! Here you can let every moment of every day be dictated by what you need most in that moment. Yoga will be offered daily at multiple times throughout the day. Other available activities include workshops, honey tour, massage (additional cost) and hiking (at whatever pace you prefer). Accommodations include delicious food prepared just for you, a private sleeping place, soaking tubs, forest hammocks, bonfires, and a beautiful landscape with ample stargazing. The most important element included in this retreat is breathing space and the opportunity to spend precious time with yourself.

Carrie Brindza

Carrie is a 500-RYT with over one thousand hours of teaching experience. She began her yoga journey in 2008 and began practicing earnestly in 2010 in a studio setting. She fell in love with the practice, so in 2015 she decided to take the leap into teacher training. This was a particularly challenging time in her personal life, and she found healing through the deepening of her yoga practice. She received her certification in 2016 and swiftly began her teaching career. Carrie is a yoga teacher dedicated to her students and her craft, welcoming all on their yoga journey.

Retreat Experiences

All yoga classes are appropriate for beginners to advanced yogis. Workshops include discovering ones Doshas and how they pertain to the practice of Ayurveda as well as diving into the Enneagram to help participants learn more about what makes them tick. Participants have the option to participate in morning yoga centered around a slow flow to gently wake the body and mind to the day ahead. At the end of the day, yoga will focus around a combination of slow flow, Yin, and Yoga Nidra to help prepare participants for a restful night.

Wellness with Nature

Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.

Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.

History

Warrior Path

Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.

The Underground Railroad

Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
