Shauna Roth

Hi! My name is Shauna Roth! I am owner/CEO of Mana Honu Wellness, where our mission is to support and guide individuals in achieving balance and vitality in all aspects of life through personalized coaching and evidence-based practices. I am a Women’s and Children’s RN of over 23 years with a dual major in Exercise Physiology. In addition, I am a nationally certified Functional Strength Coach, Delaware’s ONLY ProNatal Fitness Expert and licensed to instruct four Zumba formats!

I am a mother of three (two adult children and a middle-schooler) and am married to an extremely supportive husband, Brett. We also have three dogs, totaling around 360 pounds of energy! In our spare time, we love to travel, with Amsterdam and Tahiti on the top of our bucket list.

I chose to host a retreat centered around perimenopause for several reasons. We, as women entering (or exiting) this phase in our lives, are often not taken seriously, nor are we allowed to just “be.” We must continue to live our normal daily lives while battling hundreds of symptoms that could be attributed to MANY different diagnoses. I wanted to gather with like-minded individuals to provide education and tranquility, to take a “pause” from the grind and support each other wholeheartedly!

Jenn Hickman

Heyyyyy! My name Jenn and I am a 200 HR RYT Certified Trauma-informed Yoga & Meditation Practitioner and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Facilitator through Breath for Change.

I have been immersed in the world of yoga for almost a decade, exploring various styles and lineages to deepen my practice and understanding of this ancient tradition.
My journey began with a casual interest in the physical aspects of yoga, but it soon expanded into a profound exploration of the mind-body-spirit connection that yoga offers. As a yoga teacher, meditation & mindfulness practitioner and SEL facilitator, I provide a safe and inclusive space for those looking to improve their physical health, mental clarity, and overall well-being through yoga, meditation, mindfulness and social-emotional learning (SEL).

My teaching philosophy is rooted in creating a safe and inclusive space for individuals to explore their inner landscape through movement, breath, and mindfulness. My approach to wellness is steeped in traditional yoga philosophy with a modern twist, allowing for a practice that is both authentic and accessible to all. I believe in the power of yoga not just as a physical practice, but as a tool for self-discovery, healing, and transformation I draw inspiration from somatic practices, trauma-informed approaches, and mindfulness techniques to guide my students towards a more embodied and empowered way of being.

My personal practice is a sacred sanctuary where I reconnect with myself, cultivate inner peace, and explore my edges with compassion and curiosity. It is a blend of dynamic movement, introspective stillness, breath-work, and meditation. I approach my practice with a sense of openness and receptivity, allowing it to be a mirror reflecting back to me the wisdom and insights that lie within. Drawing from my own personal practice and experience, I strive to empower each student to cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them. I am a K-2 Special Education Teacher who loves to incorporate yoga into my teaching style. I partner with local schools to offer yoga to our youth and athletes and bring the benefits of yoga to our community every chance I get. I have been married to my spouse for over 17 years, together we have 1 human child and 5 fur babies. I love spending my spare time baking bread with my new found love of sourdough and connecting in nature. You will find me in the garden during the warmer months and in a book during the colder ones. I am so excited to co-host this retreat with Shauna and bring yoga to you all.

Wellness with Nature

Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.

Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.

History

Warrior Path

Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.

The Underground Railroad

Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
