Grounding in Connection
Connection lies within each of us. We all have the capacity to create and cultivate unity inward and outward. But we know it can get lost in the shuffle of the everyday.
Grounding in Connection is your invitation to unplug, unwind, and rediscover your empowered energy and how that awareness of interconnectivity can impact not only your existence, but the world around you. Connection is inclusive and it is expansive. Whether you are looking to bond in community, in solitude, or somewhere in between, this 3 night getaway is designed to hold space for the essence of you.
During our time together, curated opportunities will be offered to invite you to ground your energy and deepen your capacity for connection through yoga Asana, Meditation, Pranayama, journaling, earthing and hiking, a workshop on developing your Sadhana (devoted practice,) Yoga Nidra, communal meals and campfires, and plenty of space for rest and restoration. While these activities may draw you, ultimately this retreat is crafted with YOU in mind. You are invited to take what you need and leave what you don’t throughout the weekend and will be lovingly encouraged to embrace full autonomy of your experience.

Meet Your Host
Kirsten Shabanowitz
Kirsten is first and foremost a student. She may teach yoga and meditation, but she is invested in learning and expanding in as many ways as possible. She identifies as a biophile, a parent of 2, a book-lover, a coffee snob, and a youth mental health advocate.
Kirsten’s teaching style focuses primarily on the autonomy of the practitioner, embodying the roots of yogic philosophy, and ensuring the practice space feels safe and supportive, allowing for individuals to be fully present in the experience of a yoga class. She has been a dedicated student for over 11 years and has been a teacher since 2021, completing both a 200-hr and 300-hr training. She supports several studios in her area, free community classes, and offers workshops through her business Kiss of Yoga. For more information, you can visit www.kissofyoga.com or follow her in IG @kissofyoga
Wellness with Nature
Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.
Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.
History
Warrior Path
Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.
The Underground Railroad
Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
