Go With the Flow, River Mountain

Go With the Flow, River Mountain

Join Shannon + Kevin less than four hours from Cleveland at our first annual “Go with the Flow” weekend wellness retreat.

This year’s venue offers three days and three nights of morning and afternoon yoga, trail hikes, honey-tastings, hammock hangouts, happy hours, bonfire s’mores, and stargazing before retiring to the comforts of a cabin, yurt or glamping tent.

A variety of optional onsite activities and offsite group excursions, (including kayaking and a craft brewery tour and tasting in nearby Cumberland, MD) will provide daily choose-your-own opportunities to connect with your fellow Flowgis, or peel off for some solo meditation, reading and reflection on 150 acres in the Alleghenies, along Sweet Root Creek and Buchanan State Forest.

Fellow Flowgi and professional photographer Julie White will be joining to capture the full experience, so if you prefer, you can keep your phones (and your texts and emails) in your pack or pocket and enjoy the natural beauty all around you distraction-free! We'll share all photos after the event.

Eight single and four double pods are available in our reserved cabin, or we're offering 2-4 yogi yurts and glamping tents for additional privacy.

Book today to secure your spot - we have limited space and high interest!

When they aren't at the studio, you'll find them with their three kids, hiking the metroparks, going to local bars + restaurants, or traveling. Wellness with Nature

Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.

Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.

History

Warrior Path

Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.

The Underground Railroad

Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
