River Mountain Yoga Retreat
We are thrilled to host our 5th retreat at River Mountain this year! Each year, we gather in the serene setting of fall in Everett, PA. River Mountain offers a chance for folks to get out of their daily rhythm and schedule in order to slow down time, reconnect with the body, and get into nature.
During this long weekend retreat, we'll explore presence and grounding the nervous system through yoga practice and tailored workshops to create connection to self and community. Whether you love to hike, read in a hammock, snuggle up by the fireplace, or commune with like-minded folks, come spend a long weekend in November with us!
River Mountain's picturesque landscape, incredible staff, roaming animals, and peaceful energy enable us to reconnect to nature's cycles. The schedule includes plenty of downtime, nourishing food, and exploring yoga beyond our mats!

Meet Your Hosts
NIKKI WICHERT
Yoga began as an option to running in the snow for Nikki. It has since become a lifeline, a life guide, a stress reliever, an opportunity to create space and a space created to go inward. She completed a 200-hour teacher training certification at Tranquil Space, DC in 2005. Since then she has also completed Laughing Lotus Super Sequencing 25-hour training, Laughing Lotus Rishikesh, India Bhakti 50-hour training, Light on Lotus Mudras, Mantras and Mythology 20-hr training, Light on Lotus Sequencing and Theming 25-hr training, Faith Hunter Meditation and Mindfulness training, Jill Miller’s Roll Model Method and Body by Breath trainings and PIES Fitness Holistic 300-hr training. Her favorite part of the practice is that it is ever changing.
KATHLEEN BARRY
While yoga began as a way to detox from her weekend choices and to heal an injury for Kathleen back in 2015, since then it has become her passion, career, and transformative daily practice. Kathleen is a Experience Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT) 200 hours through Spark Yoga (January 2018) and RYT 500 through Janet Stone's Yoga School (May 2023). She's also received training through Laughing Lotus Advanced Bhakti Teacher Training 50 hour program in Rishikesh, India (February 2020); Trauma Recovery Yoga (T.R.Y.) 20 hour program (June 2019); SATYA 1 & 2 with Tias Little (2024), Handstand & Contortion with Irene Pappas (2021), and is engaged with the Mentorship Program offered by Janet Stone.
While she loves to be a student, teaching full time has become one of the most challenging and rewarding practices thus far. Her practice has shifted from daily asana to daily rest. In an effort to honor the ebbs and flows of life, injury, and mental health, Kathleen is currently focused on methods by which to ground the nervous system including pranayama/breathwork, restorative yoga, and other nourishing practices. When she’s not teaching yoga, she's usually hanging out with her new puppy Frankie or building community and friendships in her new home of New Orleans, LA.
Wellness with Nature
Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.
Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.
History
Warrior Path
Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.
The Underground Railroad
Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
