Beyond the Mat: Enrichment & Renewal for Yoga Teachers
Join us this Spring to move onward, upward and inward.
A three-day, comprehensive immersion for yoga teachers to refine skills, reconnect with sacred energy, and reimagine teaching as a lifelong spiritual practice.
Reserve Space for Your Soul’s Occupancy…
This spring, join Mimi Rieger and Yael Flusberg—two seasoned teachers with decades of experience guiding students and training teachers—for a retreat designed to nourish and enrich yoga educators. Together, they bring a powerful blend of wisdom, creativity, and trauma-informed practices to help teachers deepen their resilience, refine their craft, and reconnect with the joy of teaching. Join us to move onward, upward and inward.
Explore & Expand
Step away from the busyness of daily teaching and immerse yourself in three days of enrichment, renewal, and connection. Nestled in the natural beauty of the River Mountain Retreat Center — with its eco-minded accommodations, miles of forest trails, soaking tubs, and nourishing farm-to-table meals — this retreat offers yoga teachers the chance to deepen their practice, expand their toolkit, and reimagine teaching as a profound path of service, embodiment, and transformation.
Each day we’ll dive into practices that help you unwind, open, and awaken new layers of creativity. Along the way, you’ll collect grounded, usable tools that uplift your teaching and rekindle your devotion to holding deep, transformative space.
Guided by Mimi Rieger and Yael Flusberg, you’ll experience a rich blend of practices designed to restore your body, awaken your energy, and inspire your teaching. Mimi will lead intentional, dynamic and intelligent movement sessions to invigorate and recalibrate your neuromuscular system. Yael will share Yin yoga and accessible self-directed myofascial release techniques to help you soften, release, and attune to subtle energy. Together, we’ll engage in reflective inquiry and group coaching that explore teaching as vocation, inviting you to reflect on your path and purpose as a lifelong guide for others.
Walk Your Own Path, Find Freedom in Feeling
In addition to thoughtful offerings, there will be ample free time for you to walk your own path at your own pace. Be free to meander forest hills, take a soak, stargaze or curl-up in a corner to rest or read. Each magical day will offer opportunities to cleanse, recalibrate and integrate.
Return Refreshed and Refurbished
When the retreat ends, you’ll return home with clarity, resilience, and inspiration. You’ll carry new strategies to support and uplift your students, a deeper connection to your own energy and sustainability as a teacher, and a renewed sense of purpose in your practice and in the world.
Invitation for Teachers

Meet Your Guides
Yael and Mimi have been loving collaborators for years, sharing a deep respect for each other’s teaching and a commitment to supporting and celebrating yoga educators. Together, they empower teachers in their personal evolution and help them find meaningful tools that uplift their own communities.
An entrepreneur in purpose and passion, Mimi is an internationally recognized yoga guide and proprietor of her own studio in Washington, DC. She draws upon her multidisciplinary training – from Ashtanga to the Martial Arts and Rocket, from Forrest Yoga to Yin -- to inspire an intelligent and intentional movement methodology. With devotion and dedication, Mimi invites students into a space where physical strength is held by softness, warmth, and an openhearted curiosity.
Yael, who practices out of the GW Center for Integrative Medicine, is a beloved DC-based yoga therapist, psychedelic coach, and end-of-life doula. Wellness with Nature
Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.
Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.
History
Warrior Path
Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.
The Underground Railroad
Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
