GUEST SERVICES - If you need anything during your stay, please use the walkie talkie located in your accommodation to contact our team.

ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS - We are a self check-in resort. You do not need to check-in when you arrive.

DEPARTURE INSTRUCTIONS - You do not need to check out before leaving. Please throw away any outside trash, strip your beds if you have time, and close all windows to your accommodation.

YURT GUESTS - PLEASE close all windows if it rains and upon departure!

EV CHARGING - We have 3 Free EV Charging Stations on-site for guest use! One is on the side of Cabin 2 next to the stairs; one is on the side of Cabin 4 next to the stairs; and one is on the side of the Meadow Kitchenette

MEALS

For guests that included meals with their reservation, they are served in the Old Log Cabin. Please feel welcome to sit and dine or take "to go". Please remember all meals must be ordered at least 48 hours prior to arrival via the webpage link in your email.

HOW TO

CONTACT US - USE A WALKIE TALKIE

BUILD A CAMPFIRE

1. Grab all of your campfire kit items - the lighter, the firestarter, kindling (small wood pieces), and dry firewood.

2. These are firestarters, we've given you a few. You'll need one to start a fire - grab one and set aside for a moment. (Don't worry - if you need more later, we have them available for purchase).

3. Build a log cabin with 4 pieces of dry firewood. Stuff the log cabin with shredded paper bag and kindling (small wood pieces). Make sure you don't "overstuff" the log cabin, oxygen and air flow are essential for a fire.

4. Grab your firestarter cup and place it in the center of your log cabin with the shredded paper bag and kindling. Light your firestarter cup.

5. Make sure the firestarter cup continues to burn. It should then ignite the shredded paper bag, then the kindling, and then the firewood. Once your fire is burning and strong, add another piece of dry firewood. Again, don't overload your fire - fire needs oxygen and air flow!

CHARCOAL GRILL

1. Grab the charcoal chimney (located outside your accommodation) and firestarter (located in your accommodation)

2. Pile up charcoal to the top of the chimney.

3. Place the firestarter on the center of the grill and light the firestarter.

4. Place your chimney of charcoal in the middle of the grill directly on top of the lit firestarter. Watch carefully for the first few minutes to make sure the firestarter doesn't go out. After that it should be pretty obvious that the charcoal has caught fire and is starting to warm up. Cover the top of the grill if it is raining, but remember to give the smoke a way to escape as well.Wait for 15 minutes for all of the charcoal to heat up (give or take a few minutes based on the size of your chimney and how much charcoal you are using). When the charcoal is grey, it's ready to use!

5. Take the chimney up by the handle, open the grate on your grill, and pour the charcoal briquettes very slowly inside the base of the grill (too fast and you create a rush of sparks plus the chance of a spill).Close the charcoal grill, put the lid on and wait for another 10 minutes or so. This allows the heat to build up properly, as if the coals were cooking inside the grill this whole time. When they are ready, adjust the grill as you normally would and start cooking!

SPACES

1807 HISTORIC LOG CABIN
Dining for guests that included meals with their reservation. Guests are welcome to stay in the cabin to eat or take meals to go. Mingle here for complimentary happy hour from 5-6pm.

"BIG RED" BARN
Table Tennis, Cornhole, Games, Sitting Area, Deck Lounge Area. The Barn is available for retreats, events, and group rentals, and when not being used, it's available for guests to use during their stay.

MAIN LODGE
The Main Lodge lobby has our lounge area, River Mountain Store, and is also used for retreats and groups. Restrooms and showers for guests staying in our Main Lodge Rooms and Main Camp Yurts are located in the Main Lodge.

MAIN LODGE KITCHENETTE
Kitchenette For Main Camp Guests. Includes fridge + freezer space and lots of other amenities. Snacks and goodies are also available for purchase in the kitchenette.

CONFERENCE ROOM
Located right off the main lodge lobby. This room is available for meetings and group rentals, and when not being used, it's available for guests to use during their stay.

MEADOW KITCHENETTE
Two full bathrooms, fridge + freezer space, lots of other amenities, and picnic area for Meadow Yurt Guests. Snacks and goodies are also available for purchase in the kitchenette.

YOGA PLATFORMS
Our yoga platforms are located along Sweet Root Creek and our River Mountain hiking trail. For yoga retreats and group rental with individual guest use when not reserved.

YOGA DENS
The Yoga Dens are a space for retreat guests staying in our Meadow Cabins. There are four Dens in total corresponding to each Cabin. The Yoga Dens are located in the upper meadow, east of the Meadow Cabins and accessed by our walking trail.

MEADOW CEREMONY
The Meadow Ceremony space is used for weddings and also an excellent spot for stargazing! You'll find this space in the first meadow, just along the walking trail from the Main Camp to Meadow Camp.

HOT SOAKING TUBS
Our Hot Soaking Tubs are located just behind the Main Lodge. Enjoy a hot soak from 7am - 9pm, daily. Please bring your own towel for the hot tubs.

General FAQ's

What time is check-in/check-out?

What's your pet policy?

Dogs are excellent travel companions! Guests may bring their dog if staying in a cabin, main lodge room, glamping yurt, or tent in the trees. Dogs are not allowed for retreats. There is a $50 cleaning fee per night for up to two dogs. We allow up to two dogs. To ensure the comfort and safety of you, your dog, and other guests, dog owners must adhere to the following dog policy.

Dogs are allowed for stays in a cabin, main lodge room, glamping yurt, and tent in the trees.
Dogs are not allowed for retreats.
$50 cleaning fee per night for up to 2 dogs
Dogs may not exceed the weight limit of 80lbs.
Please bring a dog mat, dog bed, or small crate for the dog inside your accommodation.
Please clean up after your dog.
Dogs must remain on a leash.
No dogs that are aggressive toward other guests or other dogs.
No dogs that are uncomfortable, anxious, or under stress with new places and faces.
No dogs that bark excessively or at people, when others come to the door, at night, or are left unattended.
No dogs in the log cabin dining area or any food venues.
Dogs may not be left unattended.
Dogs are not allowed for retreat reservations.

In addition to a cleaning fee, should your dog shed a great amount or have an accident inside, an additional cleaning fee will be charged to the credit card on file in the amount of $200. Should your pet cause property or item damage, an incidental fee will be charged at market value to your credit card on file.

How close is the nearest town or store?

What is Wi-Fi and cell service like?

River Mountain is remote. Cell service can be poor on-site and in the surrounding area. However, we have fiber Wi-Fi throughout the property so please plan on enabling Wi-Fi calling and other Wi-Fi based communication apps (Zoom audio, Facetime audio, WhatsApp, iMessage, email, etc) during your stay.

If your phone is unable to find cell service, it can cause a drain on the battery as the phone continuously searches for a signal. You may want to put your phone in Airplane Mode to save your battery.

CANCELLATION POLICY - Package and Regular Nightly Guests:

River Mountain requires a non-refundable 25% deposit at the time of booking.
Reservations that are canceled less than 14 DAYS prior to check-in will be charged the full amount of the reservation.

CANCELLATION POLICY - Individual Retreat Guests:

River Mountain retreats are limited to a small number of attendees to allow for a more personable, intimate experience. Our cancellation policy is in place to help guests, hosts, and River Mountain share expenses that may arise from unexpected cancellations.

All deposits are non-refundable.
Full balance is automatically charged 30 days prior to retreat start date, unless otherwise noted.
Cancellation requests submitted 61 days or more before the retreat start date, 50% of the total is due.
Within 60 days of your retreat: sorry but no refunds given, no exceptions.

CANCELLATION POLICY - Hosts of Retreats or Groups:

Host agrees to notify River Mountain, in writing, within five (5) business days of any decision to cancel. Please refer to your individual group or retreat agreement for full cancellation policy.

Do you serve food on-site?

River Mountain has a full kitchen that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Our kitchen team has put together a farm fresh menu that consistently gets high marks from all of our guests.

When booking a reservation, select the meal plan option to enjoy meals during your stay.

We do not have the option for guests to add meals or order meals on property. If you would like meals, please be sure to select meals when creating your reservation.

what should i pack?

For all seasons, be sure to bring all-weather footwear and an extra pair of shoes. During hikes, your shoes might get wet, and it’s always nice to have an extra pair of shoes to put on at night.

Below is a list of items we suggest for fall/winter trips:

Socks - Thicker socks for cooler weather; an extra pair if others get wet.
Extra clothing Layers - Remember, we're in the mountains and it's cooler up here, especially at night.

Below is a list of items we suggest for spring/summer trips:

Bring a few extra layers, even during spring and summer trips. We're in the mountains, and if the temperature drops at night, it’s nice to have an extra layer to wear around the campfire!
Make sure you pack some bug spray. We advise that guests apply bug spray every day before walking our paths and trails.
Sunscreen

Additional Notes:

Linens and Toiletries - River Mountain provides all linens, blankets, pillows, and towels. There is shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in the showers.

If you plan on using the hot tubs, please bring a towel to use once you're done soaking. You do not need to bring towels for regular showers. We provide those!

If you would like to use a hairdryer while on-site, please bring one. We do not have any hairdryers on-site. All of our bathrooms have convenient outlets to plug into.

Make sure you pack a flashlight or headlamp (or both). If you don't have either, let us know, and we can provide you with a flashlight.
