Settle into the serenity of a modern cabin camping experience, cradled by mountains and flowing water. Enjoy connecting over campfires and s’mores. This event will be geared towards finding balance and prioritizing self-care by tuning into what your system needs each moment throughout the day. You’ll return home feeling physically relaxed, mentally clear and emotionally present.

Everyone has a natural flow - a changing state of equilibrium during which you restore the body, refresh the mind, stabilize your heart rate and feel at ease throughout the day.

The problem is, sometimes we lose the balance it requires for us to fall into our flow. Sometimes we don’t even know that a flow exists. During times of instability and uncertainty, the need for steadiness and connection is stronger than ever. By understanding our own internal, intuitive rhythms we can cultivate a healthier, more conscious way to show up for ourselves and therefore be able to fully show up for our loved ones as well.

In our modern world, it’s common to suffer from burnout…

Maybe you just feel tired. Tired of constantly juggling health, career and family. Multi-tasking but never getting it all done. Standing up for your values yet feeling disheartened and unheard. Sacrificing sleep and meals to check a few more items off your to-do list. And you feel guilty within a few moments of down time, collapsing into the couch exhausted.

There is a way to do things differently.

We have all been there. Teetering on the edge of emotional breakdown, fighting through toxic relationships, rehabbing old injuries that never go away, making mismatched career choices - pushing forward despite feeling so depleted on the inside. Whenever I find myself feeling completely beat up and burnt out, I try to take a few steps back, hit reset and start paying more attention to tending my own needs.

How you show up for yourself is how you show up for your loved ones.

It’s difficult to give 100% to family and friends if your own internal system is running on empty. When we commit to the practices of yoga + self-care we can empower each other. Throughout this retreat we’ll integrate the ancient teachings of yoga with the physical postures of the practice. We will learn simple meditation tools to minimize distractions and quiet our inner critics. We’ll fuel our bodies with nourishing meals and fill our hearts with lasting friendships.

Move, breathe and connect - with yourself and for each other. I can share with you you the strategies that have worked for me and help troubleshoot as you find your own natural flow.

About Your Host

Alyson Shade (she/her) has roots in the beautiful fields, valleys and mountains of Central PA. In 2008 she relocated to Washington, DC and supported contracts with the Navy and the Department of Defense while pursuing her yoga teacher certification program. She transitioned from strategy work into becoming a full-time yoga instructor, founding Realignment Studio as a haven for stressed-out DC professionals, activists, students and families. For the first 5 years, Alyson taught an average of 20 classes per week at various spaces around the city - including studios, churches, workplaces, gyms and federal buildings, to include the US Supreme Court. In 2017 she opened a brick-and-mortar yoga studio in the heart of Capitol Hill. During 2020 in the midst of the global pandemic, Alyson decided to end the lease on her studio space. Never one to abandon a vision, she continues to teach special events and host retreats throughout the year.

As a registered teacher, Alyson is 200- & 500-hr certified in Vinyasa (Rolf Gates) and Hatha yogas (Yoga District), and extensively studied trauma-informed yoga for veterans (Veterans Yoga Project). She received meditation techniques from senior students of Sri Dharma Mittra; Ashtanga techniques from Marie Belle Perez Rivera. Alyson is certified in intuitive energy work (Christina Ambubuyog) and completed coursework for executive coaching (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching). She served as faculty on Capitol Hill Yoga’s certification program; later developed and led her own Yoga Alliance-approved 200-hr curriculum at Realignment Studio.

Alyson’s classes integrate effort and ease and have a meditative theme, encouraging students to keep their awareness within and explore intuitive connection through the body and breath.

A former bundle of anxiety and chaos, Alyson eventually developed a daily rhythm to support her self-care needs and has never felt better. Now she travels the country sharing her yoga, meditation and self-care strategy with students who are tired of being burnt out and are ready to find balance.

Retreat Policies, Payments, Deposit, and Cancellations:

DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON RETREATS. This is for the safety and wellness of the dog and other guests joining the retreat.

25% non-refundable deposit to reserve. The remaining balance is automatically charged 30 days prior to the retreat start date using the initial card on file used to make the reservation and deposit. If reserving within less than 30 days of retreat start date, the remaining balance is automatically charged within 48 hours after reservation is made.

Please note that because River Mountain retreats are limited to a small number of attendees, to allow for a more personable, intimate experience, our cancellation policy is in place to help guests, hosts, and us alike work together sharing expenses that may arise from unexpected cancellations.

• All deposits are non-refundable.
• Full balance is automatically charged 30 days prior to retreat start date, unless otherwise noted.
• Cancellation requests submitted more than 30 days from retreat arrival date, non-refundable deposit due.
• Cancellation requests submitted less than 30 days from retreat arrival date, full balance is due.
• Any refunds allowed will incur a 3% processing fee.

No one books a retreat with the intention of cancelling it, but unexpected events do occur. Please know that our cancellation policy is designed to mitigate damages and costs incurred to retreat hosts and River Mountain in order to maintain the retreat experience and affordability for other retreat guests. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. No refunds or credits for failure to attend or failure to complete the retreat, or for arriving late or leaving early.
