Awakening the Light Within Yoga Retreat
Awakened Awareness • Awakened Affirmations • Awakened Actions
Wintering is the practice of resetting and retreating as stated in Katherine May’s book, Wintering: the power of rest and retreat in difficult times, and it is also the idea of finding lodging and care during the winter. The process allows the body and mind to rest and rejuvenate in preparation for the awakening of spring. Our yoga retreat this February has been curated to encourage rest. When we rest we can heal our physical bodies, find the solutions to difficult questions, and move through the liminal space to transformation. We will use the time to focus on three main areas to create transformative change for the new year:
Awakened Awareness - changing our thoughts from negative to positive, powerful, and purposeful beliefs
Awakened Affirmations - changing our words to being more grateful, honest, and sacred
Awakened Actions - changing our minds on how we live our lives by creating systems and structures

Retreat Package ADD-ONS
Guided Horseback Trail Ride
- $135
We’ve partnered with our friends at Horseplay Stables to give you the option of a guided horseback ride during the downtime of your retreat weekend! The $135 includes an hour and a half guided trail ride through a beautiful meadow. The stables are about 30 minutes away and we can have a shuttle service coordinated if need be. Once you’re at the stables you can stroll the property, say hello to the horses, or hang by a fire - there’s plenty to do there on top of your horseback trail ride! They offer guided rides daily at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm for up to 8 people at a time. We’ll work with them to figure out the best time during your stay!
About Your Host

Dawn M. Rivers
Dawn began her yoga journey in 1999 when she bought a Rodney Yee VHS yoga videotape. She would practice yoga in her basement as a way to bring fitness and stress relief into her life. A couple of years later, she joined a gym and practiced yoga there until she discovered a yoga studio that became her home for almost 10 years. There she found love, acceptance, and community. In 2013, she became a 200-hour certified yoga teacher through Cleveland Yoga, and in 2019, Dawn completed her 300-hour yoga teacher training with Faith Hunter at Embrace Yoga DC. Her studio, Daybreak Yoga opened in October 2018. In addition to offering daily classes at Daybreak Yoga, Dawn hosts yoga teacher training, mindfulness and yoga workshops, collaborative projects, and a coaching academy.
