The Autumn Hearth

The Autumn Hearth: A Weekend of Gathering, Grounding, and Tending Your Inner Fire

As nature slows down and prepares for winter, we are invited to do the same. The Autumn Hearth is a weekend retreat designed around the rhythms of the harvest season—a dedicated time to gather your energy, clear away the old growth, and replenish your internal reserves. If you have been running on empty or adapting to sudden shifts, this experience offers a warm space to seek shelter from the hectic pace of daily life and return to your roots.

Set against a backdrop of changing leaves and crisp air, the weekend features deeply restorative seasonal practices. You will participate in grounding flow yoga, warming breathwork sessions, and forest foraging walks. There will be time and space for you to journal, read, and spend time alone in nature if that is what nourishes you. Opportunities to connect with others and be in community will also be plentiful at our farm-to-table communal meals and campfire gatherings. You will leave this weekend feeling deeply anchored, mentally clear, and fully restored—ready to step into your next season with resilience, warmth, and a clear sense of purpose.

About your Host

Audrey Full Body Headshot 2025

Audrey H

Audrey (she/her) believes that if you can breathe, you can practice yoga. As a Nebraska native who discovered her passion for movement later in life, Audrey initially turned to yoga in 2015 simply to complement her love for powerlifting and rock climbing. What she didn’t expect was how profoundly the practice would transform her life off the mat. Driven by a desire to understand this tradition more deeply, she stepped into teacher training with no intention of ever leading a class—only to discover a passion for sharing these tools with others. Power in Breath Yoga , her home-based yoga studio just outside of DC, was born out of this passion and desire to share the practices that helped heal her.

Today, as a Registered Nurse, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and E-RYT 200 instructor, Audrey bridges the gap between physiological science and mindful movement. As the founder of Power in Breath Yoga, her teaching is defined by the absolute belief that yoga is for everybody and every BODY. Whether guiding beginners, working with private clients who are navigating specific injuries and goals, or teaching group classes, Audrey’s mission remains personal: to help individuals connect to their own strength and inner wisdom through the power of the breath. She brings this dedication off the mat as a wife, mother of two, and active member of her community.

Wellness with Nature

Resting on 150 acres, River Mountain is bordered by Sweet Root Creek, Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain. River Mountain's stunning spaces are designed for reflection, mindfulness, and good vibrations on your self-care journey. Creekside yoga platforms, a restored barn turned wellness space, and the calm of nature make this the ideal destination for peace and wellness.

Located just a few hours from D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, in the mountains of Pennsylvania, River Mountain is remote yet easy to access.

History

Warrior Path

Running parallel to River Mountain's eastern ridge is Warriors Path, the great Iroquois Indian highway from Six Nations country, New York, to the Catawba country in the Carolinas. The historic path along Sweet Root Creek was one of the longest and most heavily traveled land routes in eastern North America, connecting Indigenous peoples over hundreds of miles.

The Underground Railroad

Black Valley was an active route along the Underground Railroad. Local histories principally credit four, free black residents with leading the aid network in this area: Rev. John Fidler, Elias Rouse, Joseph Crawley, and James Graham. Just to the south of the River Mountain property are 13 unmarked graves of enslaved people who died traveling the route to freedom.
